WELCOME TO ASHRIDGE TREKKING CENTRE

Experience the ride of a lifetime in the beautiful Ashridge Estate near Berkhamsted. The riding stables are roughly 50 minutes drive from London or only half an hour on the train, with easy access on public transport from London Euston to Berkhamsted and then a short taxi ride to the riding stables.
It started off just taking some friends for a ride to see the Ashridge Estate on horseback. Today we give many people their first experience of horse riding, and others with a little more experience expert guidance through some of Ashridge's most picturesque and beautiful routes. Whatever your horse riding experience, everyone is welcome at Ashridge Trekking Centre so come and enjoy rides very literally fit for kings and queens through a thousand years of history!
This magnificent and varied countryside estate criss-crosses the border between Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, along the main ridge of the Chiltern Hills.
There are 2,000 hectares (5,000 acres) of woodlands, commons and chalk downland supporting a rich variety of wildlife and offering splendid walks through outstanding scenery.
The focal point is the Bridgewater Monument, erected in 1832 to the Duke of Bridgewater, in recognition of his pioneering canal development.
Ivinghoe Beacon, at the end of the Ridgeway, has been inhabited from pre-history to the current day. From the top there are wonderful views of the surrounding countryside, including Whipsnade and the Chiltern Gateway.
'Capability' Brown, the famous landscape designer, worked at Ashridge in the 18th century. His greatest achievement here was the creation of the Golden Valley to the north east of Ashridge house.
A great visit, all year round
In spring the bluebells always manage to provide a breathtaking display. June is when our large herd of fallow deer produce their young. You can see groups of adults with their fawns flitting through the woodland glades.
